What is a CI or Template in Cormant-CS DCIM?
A CI or Template represents a real-world asset within the DCIM system. Each entry is carefully curated to include:
- ✅ Physical specs (size, weight, rack units)
- ✅ Power ratings and PSU configuration
- ✅ Port layouts: fiber, copper, USB, PCIe, Serial, ILO
- ✅ Manufacturer details and model generation
- ✅ Front and rear visual representations (copyright-safe)
- ✅ CSV format for easy import into Cormant-CS
These models are foundational to enabling visual rack planning, power management, connectivity tracking, and lifecycle auditing.
The Value of a Continuously Growing Library
Cormant-CS maintains over 36,000 validated CIs/Templates, and we add new ones weekly. As a proactive DCIM vendor, Cormant doesn’t wait for new models to be reported. Our Technical Services team continuously researches, validates, and adds new hardware models from manufacturers worldwide. This ensures:
- Rapid onboarding of new devices
- Legacy equipment support
- No delays in infrastructure modeling
- Reliable standardization across facilities
- Compliance to DCIM RFP and project specification
However, there are cases when customers use either cutting-edge hardware or legacy models that aren’t yet included in our CI or Template Library. When this happens, our template modelling process takes place. And this includes the following actions:
- Support reviews the request against the current CI/Template Library.
- If unavailable, it’s escalated to our Technical Services team.
- A new CI or Template is manually built—including detailed specs and visual layouts.
- The completed model is delivered as an CSV file for direct import into the customer’s system.
This agile process ensures our DCIM software adapts quickly to infrastructure changes. As a result, our CI and Template Library is trusted by global enterprises, government agencies, and colocation providers for both day-to-day operations and strategic planning.
