Products that work with Cormant-CS

There are quite a number of mobile computers with a built-in barcode scanner from Symbol/Motorola and Intermec. The key to support from one of these manufacturers is that the mobile computer handheld must be running Windows Mobile; versions 2003, 5, 5.x, 6, 6.1, 6.5, 6.x. We do not support Windows CE. Cormant-CS will also run on any other device that runs Windows Mobile (think HTC smart phones), however we only (currently) include barcode scanner drivers for the Intermec and Symbol/Motorola range. More support can be added if there is a reasonable demand from a customer.

We have included a list of Symbol/Motorola and Intermec devices that we are aware run Windows mobile, please note that this list may not be exhaustive as new devices are added from time to time. If in doubt the rule “it will work if it runs Windows Mobile” applies.

Of course it is important to consider the appropriate device for the customer. This includes ruggedness considerations and the environment and barcodes to be scanned – not all devices listed use the same barcode reader and some will be more appropriate than others for specific environments. Cormant suggests working with a local vendor to ensure the appropriate device is purchased for the specific requirement.
